Mr. Pistora died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at Brandon Woods Retirement Community.
He was born Feb. 13, 1926, in Ellsworth, the son of Joseph M. and Mary G. (Vopat) Pistora. He moved to Lawrence three years ago.
Mr. Pistora served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a production operator for Sterling Drug Co., McPherson, and was a member of American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars in McPherson and Ellsworth.
He married Carol Lindgren Anderson on May 26, 1979, in McPherson. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include a daughter, Juliet Swain, Merriam; three sons, Wayne, Denver, Rodney, Wheat Ridge, Colo., and Byron, Northglenn, Colo.; a stepson, Michael Anderson, Lawrence; four sisters, Mary Ann Mlynar, Long Beach, Calif., Betty Harned, San Diego, Calif., Odessa Cracola, Oceanside, Calif., and Bernice Grittman, Stanton, Calif.; a brother, Joe, Abilene; three grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to McPherson American Legion, First Congregational UCC Church, McPherson, or charity of the donor's choice, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
