Lions 2-1 at triple-dual

April 6, 2001

— Lawrence High's boys tennis team bounced back from a shellacking at the hands of Kansas City (Mo.) Pembroke Hill High on Tuesday to go 2-1 at a triple-dual on Thursday at Topeka Seaman.

The Lions blanked Seaman, 4-0; beat Topeka West, 3-1; but fell to Washburn Rural, 3-1.

"We had lots better results than when Pembroke pounded us Tuesday, but, oh my goodness, we have tons of basics to drill on, and so little time," LHS coach Dick Wedel said.

Scott Elwell was undefeated in singles for the Lions on Thursday, including a 9-7 victory over Rural's Jared Keller.

"Scott Elwell had a big win tonight," Wedel said.
