The Lions blanked Seaman, 4-0; beat Topeka West, 3-1; but fell to Washburn Rural, 3-1.

"We had lots better results than when Pembroke pounded us Tuesday, but, oh my goodness, we have tons of basics to drill on, and so little time," LHS coach Dick Wedel said. "We have four meets next week, starting with Free State on Monday."

Scott Elwell was undefeated in singles for the Lions on Thursday, including a 9-7 victory over Rural's Jared Keller.

"Scott Elwell had a big win tonight," Wedel said. "Jared Keller is one of the better players in the area. Scott got on top of him in a hurry, 3-1, but Keller broke back, went ahead. Scott got things back together and held on to win it."
