Austin, Texas -- Kansas junior Brent Behrens placed fifth in the 10,000-meter run Thursday on the second day of the Texas Relays. Behrens finished in 31:42.8.

Freshman Paige Higgins placed eighth for KU in the women's 10,000 in 39:28.46, and junior Eve Lamborn was 11th in 10:31.47. Also, KU's women's 4x800-meter relay team placed seventh in 9:04.23.

KU's Dorian Jordan did not make the finals in the men's 400 hurdles, while Kerry Fink just missed the finals of the women's 400 hurdles.

Kansas baseball

travels to A&M

Kansas University's baseball team will carry an eight-game losing streak into this weekend's road trip to Texas A&M.

Kansas (14-19 overall, 2-13 Big 12) will face the Aggies (22-11, 7-5) at 7 tonight, 7 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.

A&M has won six of its last seven games, while KU hasn't won a league game since a 7-4 victory over Missouri on March 6.

Starting today, the Jayhawks will play eight straight road games. KU's next home game will be April 20 against Nebraska.

Golf World honors

KU junior Hurst

Kansas University's Travis Hurst has been named Golf World's collegiate player of the week.

Hurst, a junior from Erie, earned the award after winning the Stevinson Ranch Invitational by carding a 72-70-71--213 on March 26-27. It was his second tournament victory of the season.

Hurst, whose 73.36-stroke average ranks fifth in the Big 12, also won the Purina Classic in November. In his nine tournament this season, he has five top 10 finishes and eight top 25. He is currently ranked 59th in the Golfstat rankings..

Hurst transferred to KU from Butler County Community College.

KU soccer plays host

to KU Spring Classic

Kansas University's women's soccer team will play host to the KU Spring Classic on Saturday. The Jayhawks will face Colorado Rush S.C. at 9 a.m., Oklahoma State at noon and Tulsa at 2 p.m. at SuperTarget Field.

All games will consist of two 25-minute halves and a five-minute halftime period. The complete schedule for the KU Spring Classic is: 9 a.m. -- Colorado Rush S.C. vs. Kansas; 10 a.m. -- Colorado Rush S.C. vs. Tulsa; 11 a.m. -- Tulsa vs. Southwest Missouri State; noon -- Oklahoma State vs. Kansas; 1 p.m. -- Southwest Missouri State vs. Colorado Rush S.C.; 2 p.m. -- Tulsa vs. Kansas; 3 p.m. -- Oklahoma State vs. Southwest Missouri State.
