A Missouri man pleaded not guilty on Monday to nine sex crimes allegedly committed against a Lawrence girl and requested a jury trial in Douglas County District Court.

The 48-year-old man was ordered to appear for a three-day trial in July on three counts of aggravated indecent liberties, three counts of criminal sodomy and three counts of sexual exploitation of a child.

He is accused of taking part in at least four sexual encounters during a two-year span, which occurred when the girl, now a high school student, was 14 years old and in the eighth grade.

The defendant's attorney, Shelley Bock, also requested a hearing to argue for suppression of a tape recording made by Lawrence Police of a conversation between the defendant and the girl.
