Mrs. Zafer died Tuesday, April 3, 2001, at Alterra Nursing Center, Overland Park.
She was born May 18, 1911, in Pawnee Rock, the daughter of Charles and Imogene (Hedrick) Spahr. She earned bachelor's and master's degrees from Kansas University, and lived in Tonganoxie from 1946 to 1986.
Mrs. Zafer taught English literature and Spanish at Easton High School, Easton, and had been a funeral director at Quisenberry Funeral Home, Tonganoxie.
She was a 55-year member of First Congregational Church, Tonganoxie, where she was a former Sunday school superintendent. She had also served as past president of P.E.O., Chapter AT.
Mrs. Zafer was also a member of Unity Society of Practical Christianity and Daughters of the American Revolution.
She married C. Hervey Quisenberry. He died May 28, 1982. She married Shakoor A. Zafer on Aug. 8, 1986, in Overland Park. He survives of the home.
Other survivors include a son, Calvin H. Quisenberry, Tonganoxie; four stepsons, Khosrow and Wasse Zafer, both of Overland Park, Yama Zafer, Lenexa, and Ghany Zafer, Memphis, Tenn.; two daughters, Patricia Johnson, Anchorage, Alaska, and Dorothy Rosenberg, Gainsville, Tex.; two brothers, Charles Spahr, Cleveland, and William Spahr, Parker, Colo.; a sister, Marjorie Newhouse, Independence, Mo.; and nine grandchildren.
The family will meet friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Quisenberry Funeral Home, Tonganoxie.
