Rake-Meier

Kelly J. Rake and Ryan N. Meier, both of Lawrence, were married June 10, 2000, at First United Methodist Church, Lawrence, with the Rev. Sharon Howell officiating.

The bride is the daughter of the late Donald D. Rake and Nancy L. Rake, Lawrence. The groom is the son of Dennis E. Meier, Lawrence, and Mary E. Mitchell, Mt. Vernon, Mo.

Rachel E. Rake was maid of honor. Adam Brown was best man.

April Davies, Susan McNaughton and Annita Linck were bridesmaids. Matt Haake, Dennis Meier and Gary Campbell were groomsmen.

Ellen Hernly was candlelighter. Erica Hernly was flower girl. John Rake was ring bearer. Melissa Campbell was guest book attendant. Vicki Collie was gift attendant.

A reception was in Fellowship Hall at First United Methodist Church, Lawrence.

The bride is a 1996 graduate of Lawrence High School and a 2000 graduate of Kansas University with a bachelor's degree in chemistry. She is pursuing a bachelor's degree in psychology and plans to graduate in May, 2001.

The groom is a 1995 graduate of Lawrence High School. He attends school at the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute in Phoenix, and plans to graduate in December, 2000.

The couple live in Lawrence.

Sexton-Lominska

Chris Collier Sexton and Christopher Erik Lominska, both of N.Y., were married July 8, 2000, at First Presbyterian Church, Salina, with the Rev. Tom Reid officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Stan and Tommye Sexton, Salina. The groom is the son of Bob and Joy Lominska, rural Lawrence.

Amy Poos was maid of honor. Avery Lominska was best man.

The bride is a graduate of Salina Central High School and has a degree in English from Kansas University. She is a freelance writer and a researcher at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York.

The groom is a graduate of Lawrence High School and holds a degree in biology from Kansas University. He is a biomedical researcher at The Rockefeller University and plans to attend Columbia University Medical School.

The couple live in New York City.

Burress-Witters

Lani Renee Burress, Erie, and Jeffrey Dean Witters, Law-rence, were married May 20, 2000, at Flinthills Christian Church, Emporia, with the Revs. Tom Rees and Lynn Witters officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Craig and Janet Burress, Erie, and Annette Antonacci, Caldwell. The groom is the son of Lynn and Sharron Witters, Lawrence.

Jessica Burress was maid of honor. Lucas Houk was best man.

Michelle Rees and Sara Houk were bridesmaids. Shawn Lewis and Nick Rees were groomsmen. Katherine Burress was junior bridesmaid. Weston Burress was junior groomsman.

Emily Wommack and Caroline Crady were candlelighters. Emily Crady was flower girl. Billy Crady was ring bearer. Luke Thompson and William Jensen were ushers. Janet Johnson was pianist. Amy Comstock, Eric Lane and Meg Hunting were vocalists. Holly Raush and Amy Rose were guest book and gift attendants. Tasia Holcom was wedding day coordinator. Jessica Walters was personal attendant.

A reception was in the Reception Hall of the First Baptist Church, Emporia.

The bride is a 1996 graduate of Erie High School and has a degree in environmental biology from Emporia State University. She is pursuing graduate studies in zoology at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, Ill.

The groom is a 1992 graduate of Lawrence High School; a 1996 graduate of Mid America Nazarene University, Olathe, with a degree in biology; and a graduate of Emporia State University with a master's degree in environmental biology. He is student teaching at Carbondale (Ill.) High School.

The couple live in Carbondale, Ill.

Sterling-Frank

Abbie Sterling and Mark Frank, both of St. Louis, were married Aug. 13, 2000, at the Sheraton Plaza, St. Louis, with Rabbi Susan Talve officiating.

The bride is the daughter of the late Stanley Sterling and Gloria Sterling, Lawrence. The groom is the son of the late Samuel Frank and Ann Frank, St. Louis.

Judi Gitel was matron of honor. Aaron Frank was best man.

Jon Mertz and Jeff Rhone were ushers.

A reception was at the Sheraton Plaza, St. Louis.

The bride is a graduate of Lawrence High School and Kansas University. She has a master's degree from Gallaudet University, Washington, D.C., and is a school psychologist in St. Louis County.

The groom is a graduate of Parkway North High School, attended the University of Missouri-Columbia and is a graduate of Kaleidoscope School of Massage. He works as a nationally certified massage therapist and is the owner of St. Louis Institute for Sports Massage.

The couple live in St. Louis.

Eberle-Welsh

Lisa Eberle and John (J.T.) Welsh, both of Lawrence, were married Aug. 28, 2000, in an outdoor ceremony near Morain Park in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colo., with Judge Gary Brown officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Ron and Linda Eberle, Glen Elder. The groom is the son of Lonnie Welsh, Lawrence, and Nancy Hempen, Greeley, Colo.

Nancy and Frank Hempen were the couple's attendants.

The bride is a receptionist at Cottonwood Inc. in Lawrence. The groom is employed with Chaney Plumbing in Lawrence.

The couple live in Lawrence.

Thomas-Farrar

Carrie L. Thomas, Lawrence, and Kenneth M. Farrar, Norwich, were married July 1, 2000, at First United Methodist Church, Lawrence, with the Rev. Sharon Howell officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Martin Thomas and Carole Thomas, both of Lawrence. The groom is the son of Carl and Linda Farrar, Topeka.

Lara Francisco was matron of honor. Dan Asbury was best man.

Cheri Thomas, Amy Hey-liger, Cindy Carter and Brenda Shanks were bridesmaids. Jakob Farrar, Mark Farrar, Stephen Farrar, Kenton Rosenhagen and Michael Verbanic were groomsmen.

Hanna Thomas was flower girl. Carter Francisco was flower girl's escort. Emily Thomas was ring bearer. Corbin Francisco was ring bearer's escort. Kendall Francisco was candlelighter.

Kent Thomas, Greg Francisco, Troy Squire, Ryan Halsted and Brady Shipley were ushers. Kelly Loneker, Melinda Davis, Gayle Franklin and Shannon Sells were program and guest book attendants.

Kristi Knox was wedding coordinator. Eric and Diane Scott were vocalists. Dan Abrahamson was organist.

A reception was held at the Knights of Columbus building.

The bride is a 1990 graduate of Lawrence High School and a graduate of the College of Hair Design, Overland Park. She is the owner of Strands in Lawrence.

The groom is a 1992 graduate of Norwich High School and a 1996 graduate of Wichita State University. He is currently employed with the Lawrence Police Department.

The couple live in Lawrence.
