Memorial services for Verna Marie Davison, 93, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Quisenberry Funeral Home, Tonganoxie. Private burial will be in McLouth Cemetery, McLouth.
Ms. Davison died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2000, at Colonial Manor Nursing Center, Lawrence.
She was born Jan. 29, 1907, in McLouth, the daughter of Edgar and Margaret (McGuire) Davison. She attended Woodstock grade school, graduated from McLouth Rural High School in 1925, and earned a degree in education from Emporia State Teachers College. She moved to Lawrence in 1996.
Ms. Davison taught in rural schools in the Lawrence and McLouth areas before moving to Kansas City, Mo., where she taught in elementary schools and worked for the Kansas City (Mo.) board of education. She retired in 1972 as a social worker for Jackson County, Mo. She was a member of the Linwood United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She also was a life member of the Women's Society of Christian Service.
Survivors include four sisters, Genevieve Wendorff, Lawrence; Helen Klinksiek, Overland Park; Audrey Gallagher, Fairfax, Va.; and, Maudie Flaherty, Jasonville, Ind.
