Cal and Ruth Dickinson, Baldwin, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Sunday, Oct. 1, with a reception from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in Vintage Park community room at Firetree Estates in Baldwin. Friends and family are invited to attend the celebration.
Calvin Dickinson and Ruth Lewis were married June 2, 1950, at the Evangelical Free Church of Georgetown, Tex.
Calvin and Ruth both received bachelor's degrees from Southwestern University, Georgetown, Tex. After Calvin completed a master of divinity degree at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, the family moved to Kansas. Cal served as pastor at United Methodist churches in Sylvia, Hutchinson, Kinsley, Fort Scott, Junction City, Sabetha and Neodesha. Since retiring in 1991, Cal has served as the pastor of Vassar United Methodist Church near Lake Pomona.
Ruth was a career educator, teaching in a variety of classrooms ranging from elementary to adult education through her 42 years of public school service. She also was an active leader in both school and community theater.
Hosts for the celebration will be the couple's children and their families: Laura Dickinson and Elvyn Jones, Baldwin, and David Dickinson and Sahja Cove, Santa Rosa, Calif.
