Airline passenger pleads to assault
A Pennsylvania man has pleaded guilty to assaulting members of an airline crew, U.S. Atty. Jackie Williams announced Tuesday.
Francis Michael Bezold, 52, of Bristol, Pa., faces up to 20 years in federal prison when he is sentenced Jan. 8.
He pleaded guilty Monday before U.S. District Judge Wesley Brown to one count of assaulting and intimidating a flight crew member and flight attendant.
Williams said Bezold had been drinking during the flight Aug. 3 from Philadelphia to Phoenix and that when he was refused another drink he struck an attendant and another passenger.
A passenger restrained Bezold, who was taken into custody when the flight landed after it was diverted to Wichita.
