Wood carvers gather at mall

Overland Park The 27th Annual Fall Woodcarving Show, "Artistry in Wood," will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5:30 p.m. Sunday at Metcalf South Mall. Admission is free.

Wood carvers and distributors from the metropolitan area will be exhibiting and selling wood carvings, books, carving blanks, supplies, tools and wood.

Haunted house tour in Atchison

Atchison The Haunted Homes Tour, which begins Friday and continues nightly through Halloween, gives passengers aboard the Atchison Trolley a look at the mysterious tales that have prompted one author to describe Atchison as "the most haunted town in Kansas."

Tours are hourly from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday-Sunday; hourly from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. weeknights; and at 9 p.m., 10 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Tours begin at the Santa Fe Depot, 200 S. 10th St. Tickets are $5; children ages 4 to 12 receive Halloween goodie bags. Reservations are required and can be made by calling Atchison Area Chamber of Commerce, (800) 234-1854. For more information, log on to www.atchison.org
