KANSAS CITY, KAN. Five inmates at the U.S. Penitentiary in Leavenworth and a woman from Oklahoma City were sentenced Tuesday on charges of attempting to bring heroin into the prison.
Sentenced were Sammy Villalba, 43; Ramon Duron, 41; Louie Ayala, 35; Fidel Enrique Ruelas, 38; and Kenny Taylor, 28, said U.S. Atty. Jackie Williams. Also sentenced was Gladys Hill, 29, from Oklahoma City.
Villalba, Duron, Ruelas and Taylor were sentenced to four years in federal prison without parole, to be served after their current sentences. Ayala was sentenced to 44 months after his current sentence. Hill was sentenced to three years on probation, including six months of home detention.
All pleaded guilty to using a telephone to attempt to possess and then distribute heroin.
Williams said the prisoners conspired to have Hill hide heroin on her body when she visited her boyfriend, Taylor.
