Norris Wheeler

— Services for Norris Edwin Wheeler, 85, Nortonville, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Seventh Day Baptist Church, Nortonville. Burial will be in Nortonville Cemetery.

Mr. Wheeler died Monday, Oct. 16, 2000, at Jefferson County Geriatrics Center, Winchester.

He was born Oct. 17, 1914, in Nortonville, the son of Edwin and Cora Mabel (Allen) Wheeler. He attended grade school in Nortonville, graduated from Nortonville High School and attended Salem (W.Va.) College for two years. He lived in rural Lawrence from 1942 to 1980, then moved back to his original homestead farm just north of Nortonville.

Mr. Wheeler was a farmer and dairyman, and was a member of Seventh Day Baptist Church, Nortonville, Valley Grove Community Club and Jefferson County Farm Bureau. He had served on the Valley Grove School Board and was a past clerk of the Sarcoxie Township Board.

He married Darlene Smith on May 14, 1943, in Lawrence. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include three sons, Phillip, Prairie Village, Warren R., Lawrence, and, Dale Wheeler, Overland Park; a daughter, Martha Nieder, Lawrence; two brothers, Wilmar, Eustis, Fla., and Winston, Larkinburg; a sister, Norma Smith, Wichita; and eight grandchildren.

Friends may call from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today at O'Trimble Funeral Home, Nortonville.
