The voices of Jodi Benson as Ariel, Buddy Hackett as Scuttle the Seabird, Samuel E. Wright as Sebastian the Crab and Pat Carroll, as Morgana, are back in their familiar roles in the direct-to-video "The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea."
The Walt Disney Home Video sequel includes five new songs and new characters including Melody, the Little Mermaid's daughter, and her friends Tip the Penguin and Dash the Walrus. The story finds Melody discovering her true self as a mermaid. It's $26.99 on VHS, $29.99 on DVD.
Also out for the younger set is "It's the Pied Piper, Charlie Brown" ($12.95, DVD $19.99), the last Peanuts special written and developed under the supervision of the characters' late creator, Charles Schulz.
Disney has just released "Buzz Lightyear of Star Command: The Adventure Begins" ($24.99, DVD $29.99), with Tim Allen back as the voice of Toy Story's intergalactic hero; and four titles in its growing Gold Classic Collection, "Pocahontas II Journey to a New World," "The Rescuers Down Under," "A Bug's Life" and "Hercules." Each is $22.99 on VHS, $29.99 on DVD.
Also on the shelves from Disney is "The Tigger Movie," in which Tigger searches for his family. The story is supported by the music of the Sherman Brothers and a music video by Kenny Loggins created for the video.
Warner Home Video this week released the feature-length "Scooby-Doo and the Alien Invaders" at $19.96 and the DVD with a sampling of interactive games and a making-of-the-movie feature at $24.98.
For littler ones there are goodies such as "Thomas' Christmas Wonderland & Other Thomas Adventures" from Anchor Bay ($12.98); "Blue's Big Musical Movie," with Ray Charles as G-Clef (VHS $19.95, DVD $24.99); "Franklin and the Green Knight," the shelled leader's first full-length direct-to-video movie due out Tuesday (VHS $19.95, DVD $24.95); "Baby Songs Play Along Songs" featuring songs of Hap Palmer ($12.98); and Pioneer Entertainment's "Panda! Go Panda!" It's based on the adventures of Mimiko and her panda friends (VHS $14.98, DVD $24.98).
Two new volumes of the highly rated TV series "Pokemon" are No. 21 "The PO-KE Corral!" and No. 22 "Hang Ten, Pikachu" with an action card in each video (VHS $14.98, DVD $24.98).
Underdog is pitted against his evil foes to launch the super crimefighter's video series with three volumes: "Underdog vs. Simon Barsinister," "Underdog vs. Riff Raff" and "Underdog vs. Overcat" from Golden Books Entertainment (VHS $9.98, DVD $19.98).
Universal Studios Home Video has added two titles to its "Maisy" series featuring the high-spirited, pint-sized mouse and her friends who have a series on Nickelodeon's "Nick Jr.": "Maisy Makes Music," and "Maisy's Winter Fun" ($12.98, VHS only).
