Gertus Jones

— Memorial services for Gertus H. Jones, 80, Kansas City, Kan., will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Tonganoxie Christian Church. Inurnment will be in Leavenworth National Cemetery.

Mr. Jones died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000, at his home.

He was born Jan. 11, 1920, in Philadelphia, the son of William F. and Josephine (Labbadie) Jones.

Mr. Jones was a sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was a retired electrician for Swift and Co., Kansas City, Kan. After retirement, he ran the marina at Leavenworth State Fishing Lake, Tonganoxie.

He was a member of Tonganoxie Christian Church and Tonganoxie Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9271.

He married Geraldine Weeks on May 12, 1946, in Kansas City, Kan. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include three sons, James P., Basehor, Daniel, Piper, and Robin, Tonganoxie; two daughters, Judy Mock, Piper, and Becky Hill, Sweet Springs, Mo.; a sister, Josephine M. Adams, Arizona; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to service time Friday at Tonganoxie Christian Church.

The family suggests memorials to Tonganoxie Christian Church or Good Shepherd Thrift Shop, sent in care of Quisenberry Funeral Home, P.O. Box 993, Tonganoxie 66086.
