Angels proclaim joy of the season

November 5, 2000

Christmas carols from "Hark, the Herald Angels Sing" to "Angels We Have Heard on High" are melodic reminders that angels traditionally spread the message of joy that the holiday season brings.

Now do-it-yourselfers can add a lovely traditional touch to their own homes with this simple and elegant Christmas angels project.

Like the messengers that brought the good news to the shepherds so long ago, these majestic angels will proclaim the joy of the season to the whole neighborhood from the yard, porch, roof or wherever they're displayed.

Simple and inexpensive to build, the angels are traced from a reusable full-size pattern so it's easy to make one angel or an entire choir.

First transfer the pattern onto particle board or plywood (three angels will fit on one 4-foot-by-8-foot sheet) Next, cut the figure(s) out, sand the edges, prime and paint. To finish, add a wooden stand or stake made from galvanized pipe, set up and enjoy.

The Christmas Angels plan, No. 852, is $9.95 and includes full-size traceable patterns, step-by-step directions with photos and a shopping list and cutting schedule.

A large outdoor Nativity Scene Display, No. 7, is $45.95 and includes posters for 14 figures (to mount on plywood) plus instructions for building a stable.

In addition, a catalog picturing hundreds of do-it-yourself projects is $3.95, and a free Christmas brochure is available on request.

Prices include postage and handling. Please allow about four weeks for delivery (for rush delivery, add $1 per item up to $3 maximum and allow about two weeks).
