Ralph L. Ensminger

— Services for Ralph L. Ensminger, 87, Iola, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Iola. Burial will follow in Moran Cemetery.

He died Saturday, June 24, 2000, at Pinecrest Nursing Home in Humboldt.

He was born July 7, 1912, in Adeline, La., the son of Will and Bessie Hoerning Ensminger. Six months later, his family moved to a farm northwest of Moran. Mr. Ensminger lived there until 1994, when he moved to Iola.

He enlisted in the U.S Navy in 1942, serving 45 months in the South Pacific. He farmed until 1958 when he began serving as a rural mail carrier. He retired in 1979.

Mr. Ensminger was a member of the First Baptist Church in Iola, the Veterans of Foreign Wars in LaHarpe, the American Legion in Moran, Marmaton Lodge No. 245 in Moran and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.

He married Ruth Lawson on April 21, 1946, in Eldon, Mo. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include two daughters, Donna Boyd, Moran, and Beth Loudabarger, Lawrence; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A granddaughter, Kimberly Holloway, died earlier.

The family suggests memorials to the Humboldt Pinecrest Alzheimer's Unit, sent in care of the Waugh-Yokum and Friskel Memorial Chapel, 16 N. Buckeye, Iola 66749.
