To the editor:
I am not qualified to comment on the design or effectiveness of the new "roundabout" at Harvard Road and Monterey Way. However, having counted 29 signs on 20 poles at, or on the approach to the new roundabout, I feel I can make the following observations. One, if it takes 29 signs to guide motorists through a roundabout, one might question their use, and two, although the roundabout itself seems relatively attractive, the sign clutter sure is ugly. I might add that there are roundabouts in Kansas City and Manhattan with very little signage and they are quite attractive.
