BOY SCOUTS AND ADULTS FROM TROOP 61, chartered to St. Luke AME participated in a trip to Colorado, where they climbed a 14,000-foot peak on Mt. Belford. The trip was July 10-14.

Bill Berkowitz was the first to make it to the top and was joined by Kelsey Mullis, Brandon McGuire, Jason Russell, and assistant scoutmaster Doug Bailey. Other participants were Terrance Payne, assistant senior patrol leader; James Shupe, junior assistant scoutmaster; and Jeff Woods, immediate past scoutmaster.

The group also visited Royal Gorge and the Garden of the Gods while in Colorado. This was the second year the older scouts from Troop 61 went on an adventure. Last year took a canoeing trip in Missouri. The Troop plans to make a summer trip for the older boys an annual event with the possibility of whitewater rafting in 2001.
