Luther Services

— Services for Maude Ruth Luther, 92, Perry, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Barnett Funeral Home, Oskaloosa. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Perry.

Mrs. Luther died Thursday, July 20, 2000, at Stormont-Vail Regional Medical Center, Topeka.

She was born March 14, 1908, in Kansas City, Kan., the daughter of William and Edith Corliss. She moved to Perry in the late 1970s from Arizona.

Mrs. Luther and her husband farmed in Corliss Bottoms, east of DeSoto, developed a garage and salvage yard, and developed Gas Island service station and bulk oil plant. She was a member of Christian Church and Lion's Club Auxiliary.

She married Francis M. Luther in 1931 in Lawrence. He died May 29, 1991.

Survivors include a son, Harold L. Luther, Colorado Springs, Colo.; a daughter, Alice M. Newport, Perry; a brother, Leslie Corliss, San Diego; six grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

A grandson died earlier.

Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. today at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Barnett Funeral Home.

The family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer's Assn. or Williamstown Fire Department, sent in care of the funeral home.
