Services for James "Don" Callahan, 80, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Indian Hills Church of God, Lawrence. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lawrence.
Mr. Callahan died Wednesday, July 19, 2000, at his home.
He was born Jan. 26, 1920, in Coyville, the son of Austin and Anna (Lounsbury) Callahan. He attended Coyville High School and moved to Lawrence in 1965 from Perry.
Mr. Callahan had been the manager of Kaw Dehydrating Co., Lawrence, and had worked at the Midland Dehydrator and Grantville Dehydrator and as a rancher and farmer. He also worked as an electrician for Kansas University Facilities and Operations and as a deliveryman for Meseraull Press.
He was a member of the Indian Hills Church of God, where he had served on the trustee board, Senior Friends at Overland Park Regional Medical Center and the AARP. He was a former member of Compassionate Friends.
He married Eleanor A. Williams on March 21, 1942, in Fredonia. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include a daughter, Dianne Coffee, Topeka; a brother, Dallas, Lawton, Okla.; a sister, Doris Clifton, Wichita; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
A son, Larry, died earlier.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
The family suggests memorials in his name to Caring Hearts of Eudora, Midland Hospice or Indian Hills Church of God, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
