Court punishes 4 attorneys

July 15, 2000

— The Kansas Supreme Court has disbarred a Kansas City, Mo., attorney and disciplined three other lawyers.

Losing his license to practice in Kansas courts was John Edward Rogers. Rogers surrendered his license to practice law in Missouri in September 1998, when he faced allegations that he solicited clients improperly through a marketing agreement with a chiropractor.

The Kansas court also:

  • Suspended the license of Christopher E. Lucas, of Overland Park, for two years, over his handling of business matters for his firm.
  • Suspended for one year the license of Susan M. Shumway, of Olathe, over her handling of a paternity case.
  • Ordered Mark J. Sachse, of Kansas City to have his law practice supervised by another attorney for two years over his handling of a personal injury case.
