Planners continue last week’s agenda at meeting tonight

Lawrence-Douglas County planning commissioners will continue their meeting from last week beginning at 6:30 tonight at city hall, Sixth and Massachusetts streets. The number of items necessitated splitting the meeting.

The remaining agenda items are:

  • Public hearing on a request to rezone 29 acres from planned commercial district with restrictions to planned commercial district with expanded uses to allow a Sonic Drive-In. The property is between 31st and 33rd streets, west of Iowa Street. Requested by Landplan Engineering for Sue A. Mohr, property owner of record. There also will be a public hearing on the preliminary development plan for the project.
  • Consider separate requests to annex 10- and 20-acre properties west of Queen's Road and north of Sixth Street. A public hearing will be held to rezone the properties from agricultural to single-family residential. The 10-acre property is requested by Landplan Engineering for J. Kristian Pueschel and Todd Sutherland of Bishop Seabury Academy, the property owner of record. The 20-acre property is requested by Landplan Engineering for Graycliff Holdings, L.C., property owner of record.
  • Consider a request for annexation of about 4.8 acres into Lawrence. A public hearing will be held to consider rezoning the property from agricultural to single-family residence. The property is west of Branchwood Drive and north of Stone Ridge Drive. A related rezoning request also will be considered at this meeting. Requested by Landplan Engineering for Marla L.L.C., property owner of record.
  • Consider preliminary plat for Fox Chase No. 5, a 57-lot residential plat containing 21.4 acres. Related annexation and rezoning requests also were submitted for consideration at this meeting. The property is south of Sixth Street west of Branchwood Drive. Submitted by Landplan Engineering for Marla, L.L.C., property owner of record.
  • Consider a request for annexation of 132 acres into Lawrence. The property is between Wakarusa Drive extended and Queens Road, south of North 1700 Road. Related rezoning requests also will be considered at this meeting. Requested by Landplan Engineering for Westwood L.L.C., property owner of record.
  • Public hearing on a request to rezone 10.6 acres from agricultural to single-family residence. A related annexation request also will be considered at this meeting. The property is generally located on the west side of Wakarusa Drive, south of North 1700 Road. Requested by Landplan Engineering for Westwood L.L.C., property owner of record.
  • Public hearing on a request to rezone 40.8 acres from agricultural to single-family residence. A related annexation request also will be considered at this meeting. The property is on the west side of Wakarusa Drive, south of North 1700 Road. Requested by Landplan Engineering for Westwood L.L.C., property owner of record.
  • Public hearing on a request to rezone 35.3 acres from agricultural to planned residence. A related annexation request also will be considered at this meeting. The property is on the east side of Queen's Road and south of North 1700 Road. Requested by Landplan Engineering for Westwood L.L.C., property owner of record.
  • Public hearing on a request to rezone 29.8 acres from agricultural to single-family residence. A related annexation request will also be considered at this meeting.   • Public hearing on a request to rezone 3 acres from agricultural district to planned commercial district. A related annexation request also will be considered at this meeting.   • Public hearing on a request to rezone 12.5 acres from agricultural to planned residential. A related annexation request will also be considered at this meeting. The property is generally located east of Queen's Road and north of East 1650 Road. Requested by Landplan Engineering for Westwood L.L.C., property owner of record.
  • Consider preliminary plat for Westwood, a mixed use development which contains about 132 acres. Related annexation and rezoning requests also will be considered at this meeting. The property is located one half mile north of Sixth Street between Queens Road and Folks Road. Submitted by Landplan Engineering for Westwood L.L.C., property owner of record.
