Does your list of the year's top stories include the downtown fire? How about the explosions at Farmland? Or Roy Williams' decision to stay at KU?

The Journal-World, 6News and ljworld.com want your help picking the top 10 Kansas and Lawrence-area stories of the year.

From now through Dec. 27, you're invited to rank your top 10 stories using the ballot that will be printed in the Journal-World every day or by logging on to ljworld.com and voting for the top story in each category.

Then, on Jan. 1, look for the story about your top 10 picks in the Journal-World, on ljworld.com and on 6News.

Between now and then, the Journal-World and ljworld.com will be bringing you other year-end wrapups of local, state, national and world stories, top story picks from The Associated Press, a news quiz to test your memories of some notable characters and events, and a look at the quirky stories that made us scratch our heads in wonder or bust our guts laughing.

From Christmas Day through Dec. 29, tune in to 6News each evening for a televised look at the topics that made headlines in and around Lawrence this year.

On New Year's Eve, the Journal-World will bring you a final month-by-month look back at the events and images that shaped the year in the Lawrence area, and we'll start looking ahead to what we can expect in 2001 in business, government and other areas.

So clip and vote, or use your computer mouse to click your vote, and stay tuned for the results and more on how the year just past affected you.
