DeSoto Services for Lester Lee Warsop, 88, DeSoto, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at DeSoto Baptist Church. Burial will be in DeSoto Cemetery.
Mr. Warsop died Monday, Dec. 11, 2000, at Eudora Nursing Home.
He was born Nov. 8, 1912, in Eudora, the son of Wilford and Ida Paxton Warsop. He moved to DeSoto in 1918.
Mr. Warsop was a mechanic and owned and operated DeSoto Motors from 1946 to 1967 and then worked for Gulf Oil at the Eudora Explosive Plant. He was a member of DeSoto Masonic Lodge, a former and charter member of DeSoto Rotary, and served as Lexington Township trustee and on DeSoto Cemetery board.
He married Mary Eunice Curtiss on Dec. 28, 1937, in Olathe. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include a son, Ronald Lee Acton, Kansas City, Kan.; a daughter, Martha Rae Carpenter, Lawrence; three stepsons, Glenn Bowers, Topeka; Roy "Jack" Bowers, Eudora; and, Monte Bowers, DeSoto; a stepdaughter, Mary Dunkin, San Marcos, Tex.; three sisters, Opal Ostertag, Forsythe, Mo.; Garnet Moll, Gardner; and, Margaret Dierolf, Olathe; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
A stepson, Bill Bowers, two grandchildren and three stepgrandchildren died earlier.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. today at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. to service time Thursday at the church.
