Services for Ailyne M. "Layne" Rider, 84, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Clinton Parkway Assembly of God Church. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Rider died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2000, at Eudora Nursing Center.
She was born Aug. 5, 1916, in Wann, Okla., the daughter of Guy George and Minnie V. Davis Gaskill. She moved to the Lawrence area in 1956 from Oregon.
Mrs. Rider worked for many years as a waitress in Lawrence, at Keim's Cafe, Holiday Inn, Duck's Seafood, the Ramada Inn and Dixon's Drive Inn.
She married Ollie A. "Choc" Rider Sr., on Dec. 30, 1932, in Kansas City, Kan. He died March 5, 1987.
Survivors include three daughters, Ginger Lynn, Agness, Ore., Maelyne Duncan, Bullhead City, Ariz., and Judy Gilliand, Lawrence; five sons, Larry Rider, Harlingen, Tex., Dennis Rider Sr., Climax Springs, Mo., O.A. "Tex" Rider Jr., Parkville, Mo., A.L. "Dusty" Rider, Blue Springs, Mo., and, Wade Rider, Alabaster, Ala.; a brother, Roy Gaskill, Bala Keno, Sonora, Mexico; a sister, Lola Mae Veldhouse, Sarasota, Fla.; 28 grandchildren; and 39 great-grandchildren.
Two sons, Wendell and Tuck Rider, and a grandchild died earlier.
The family will receive friends from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
The family suggests memorials to Eudora Nursing Center, sent in care of the mortuary.
