Gene Kalb

— Services for Gene Kalb, 72, Baldwin, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Ives Chapel, Baldwin. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Baldwin.

Mr. Kalb died Monday, Dec. 11, 2000, at his home.

He was born June 9, 1928, in Baldwin, the son of Raymond and Frances (Scott) Kalb. He grew up in Baldwin and graduated from Baldwin High School in 1947.

Mr. Kalb was a dairy farmer for many years. He also worked for the Kansas University housing department. He later worked for the city of Baldwin, and retired in 1990. He was a member of Ives Chapel Church. He was a past director of Prairie City School District and member of Douglas County Farm Bureau and its board of directors.

He married Dolores Deckwa on Sept. 27, 1947. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a daughter, Jeanette Kalb, Baldwin; a son, Skip, Argyle, Tex.; a half-brother, Kenneth Whan; and two grandchildren.

Friends may call from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today at Lamb-Roberts-Heise Funeral Home, Baldwin.

The family suggests memorials to Ives Chapel United Methodist or Douglas County Hospice, sent in care of the funeral home.
