Law enforcement report

Police reports

Lawrence Police are investigating the source of three counterfeit cashier's checks cashed Nov. 28 and Nov. 29 at the Corner Bank, 2311 Wakarusa Drive. The checks totaled $4,998. No arrests have been made.

Injury accidents

Douglas County Sheriff's officers say they believe alcohol was involved in a motorcycle accident that occurred shortly after 2 a.m. Friday on U.S. Highway 40 just west of East 550 Road. An officer attempted to stop the motorcycle by using red lights. The motorcycle driver, after looking behind at the sheriff's officer, lost control and drove off the road. The victim, a 39-year-old Lecompton man, was taken by Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical to Lawrence Memorial Hospital, where he was treated and released. Results of blood-alcohol tests are pending and no arrest was made.

Fire reports

An electrical fire Monday afternoon caused $10,000 damage to a trailer home, Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical officials said. The fire at 3323 Iowa began about 3:30 p.m. No one was home at the time, and no one was injured. Officials described the damage as "a significant loss."
