Military insult

December 1, 2000

To the editor:

Have we reverted to the pre-World War II times?

Only two-thirds or less of the military absentee ballots were counted in Florida because of lack of postmarks and other trivial reasons. This could have been the same for other military absentee ballots, too, all over the U.S.

Perhaps we will revert to such disrespect for the military that we will again see the signs in the store, saloon and other business windows: "NO DOGS OR SOLDIERS ALLOWED."

Jack D. Wagley,
