Driver loses control, strikes house with car

A 22-year-old Lawrence man struck the side of a home with the 1989 Ford Mustang he was driving early Thursday morning in the 2400 block of Yale Road.

Lawrence Police said the man failed to negotiate a turn while driving at a high rate of speed. The man was cited for operating a car while under the influence of alcohol.

No injuries were reported. A passenger in the car fled the scene.

Two area fugitives arrested after reports

The day after the Lawrence-Douglas County Crime Stoppers program released the identities of the two most wanted fugitives in the area for August, both men were arrested.

Elijah Masquat, who was wanted for failing to appear in July for sentencing on burglary and theft convictions, was brought to the jail early Thursday morning by a bail bondsman, said Lawrence Police Officer David Anderson, Crime Stoppers coordinator.

William D. Glover Jr., who was sought to face trial on marijuana possession and distribution charges, turned himself in late Thursday morning, Anderson said.

Glover had been working at a Lawrence-area car dealership when a co-worker brought to Glover's attention his picture in the Journal-World.

Glover was later released on $36,000 bond, said Douglas County Jail officials.
