St. John the Evangelist plays host to fair

A ministry fair, highlighting St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church ministries, services and opportunities to be involved will take place after all the liturgies this weekend in the newly renovated parish hall at 1234 Ky. There will be enrollment for religious education classes for children and adults at the ministry fair this weekend and next weekend.

Confirmation classes for eighth- and ninth-graders will be from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday in the parish hall. Registration for the confirmation class will take place during the religious education enrollment this weekend.

Church of the Nazarene slates school bash

The Witness Band will perform at 10:15 a.m. Sept. 10 at a back-to-school bash at the First Church of the Nazarene, 1470 N. 1000 Road. Other activities include a barbecue picnic, moon walk, dunk tank, cotton candy, horse shoes and volleyball.

Calvary Temple schedules ice cream social, retreat

An ice cream social will take place at 5 p.m. Sunday at Calvary Temple Assembly of God, 606 W. 29th St. Terrace.

The Ladies Retreat will be Oct. 6-7 at Bethel Life Center, Wichita. The cost is $25 plus lodging.

St. Margaret's throws Music and Arts Roundup

The Music and Arts Roundup will be 6:30 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. today and

9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at St. Margaret's Episcopal Church, 5700 W. Sixth.

All events are open to the public. The arts-based, two-day activity will give children and their parents the opportunity to share their gifts through singing, playing rhythm instruments, moving and creating music and visual art. The program culminates at 2:15 p.m. Saturday with a casual, "come as you are and grow" presentation.

Clinton Assembly of God to have special guests

Tim and Rochelle Enloe will be guest evangelists at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 17, and 7 p.m. Sept. 18-20 at Clinton Parkway Assembly of God, 3200 Clinton Parkway.

Clearfield Methodist plans homecoming

Clearfield United Methodist Church will celebrate its second annual homecoming with the music of the Hallelujah Cowboys at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 9.

Bring lawn chairs. There is no admission charge. Donations will be collected for the dessert fellowship.

Clearfield is located four miles north of U.S. Highway 56 on County Road 1061 (E. 2200 Road) or eight miles south of Kansas Highway 10.

Corpus Christi offers information sessions

Information sessions about the Catholic faith for adults and school age youths will be offered from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursdays, beginning Sept. 14, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 6001 W. 15th. Child care for younger children will be available.

Wesleyan Church kicks off 10-week program

A 10-week program, the Alpha Fall Session, will begin at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Lawrence Wesleyan Church, 900 Madeline Lane. Child care will be provided. Supper begins at 6:30 p.m., followed by a short talk, group discussion and dessert. The Alpha Festival will be Sunday for those interested in the program.

Mustard Seed offers fall Alpha Course

The fall 2000 Alpha Course will be offered from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesdays at the Mustard Seed Christian Fellowship, 700 Wakarusa Drive. A short introduction and free dinner will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Meetings will begin Sept. 2 and continue through Nov. 14.

Each class includes a free meal, video presentation and group discussion. The church will provide all course materials and child care.

Heritage Baptist Church to have special services

Heritage Baptist Church, 4340 W. Sixth, will hold services at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Sterling House, 3220 Peterson Road, and 4 p.m. Sunday at Brandon Woods Retirement Village, 1501 Inverness Drive.

Christ Community has new location, format

Christ Community Evangelical Free Church is now located at 1100 Kasold Drive, former home of Corpus Christi Catholic Church.

The new Sunday morning format will be 8:15 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. worship celebration, 9:45 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. adult Bible fellowship with doughnuts and coffee, and 10:45 a.m. to 12 p.m. worship celebration.
