Masked man
attempts robbery
Police are looking for a man who wore a "Star Wars" character mask and tried to rob a Baldwin woman outside a grocery store this week.
The man didn't get any money from the woman, and he left without harming her during the attempted aggravated robbery at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Aldi's, 3025 Iowa St.
Sgt. Richard Nickell said the woman, 28, and her husband, also 28, had just loaded their groceries into their car when the husband left.
At that point, the man, wearing a Darth Maul mask, walked up to the woman and asked her for "the bag," Nickell said. It wasn't clear what the man was talking about, Nickell said.
The suspect left when the husband returned. The suspect ran to the south and then west. Nickell said no weapon was shown during the robbery attempt, which is classified as an aggravated robbery, because the assailant concealed his face with a mask.
The man was about 6-foot-1, weighing about 200 pounds. He was wearing blue jeans and a hooded maroon sweat jacket.
