A judge's ruling has backed a decision by Janelle Martin, Kansas University's associate athletics director for compliance, on the eligibility status of football player Zak Kustok.
"I still stand by the interpretation I gave Zak when he was here, based on the facts I was presented," Martin said Wednesday.
Martin said the confusion arose over exactly when Kustok left Notre Dame last fall.
Martin was presented with documentation that Kustok departed Notre Dame in late September while the NCAA said Kustok, now at Northwestern, didn't leave the South Bend, Ind., school officially until late October.
Kustok has been ruled eligible to play for Northwestern on Saturday against Minnesota.
"I know he's excited to be playing again," Martin said, "whether it's Northwestern or Kansas or anywhere else."
