ODA BLAINE SHIPMAN

Graveside services for Oda Blaine "Obie" Shipman, 86, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Shipman died Saturday, Sept. 11, 1999, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born June 14, 1913, in Green County, Mo., the son of Oda O. and Vesta S. Selph Shipman.

Mr. Shipman been a resident of Lawrence since 1951, moving from Springfield, Mo. He worked as a construction superintendent for Constant Construction and for Kansas University until his retirement.

He was a member of Lawrence Lodge No. 6 AF&AM and the Scottish Rite. He was an active member of Carols Bunch, a senior bowling league in Lawrence.

He married Mary F. Ruyle on Sept. 12, 1936, in Buffalo, Mo. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include two sons, Jerry B. Shipman, Atlanta, and Jack R. Shipman, Lawrence; a sister, Joan Steel, Pleasant Hope, Mo.; a brother, Bernard Shipman, Overland Park; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary, where Lawrence Lodge No. 6 will recite Masonic Services at 7 p.m.

The family suggests memorials to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children. Memorials may be sent in care of the mortuary.
