Frances Willard Day called attention to an obscure Kansas law which said that every teacher must spend a quarter of each school day conducting an anti-liquor discussion with pupils. The outdated law was laughingly ignored here just as it was everywhere else in the state. There were no stipulations about the creationism-evolution clashes that were to surface 40 years later.
