— Santa Fe Trail's defense dominated Kansas City Piper in a 14-0 high school victory on Friday at the Chargers' stadium.

Piper, which entered with a 3-0 record, gained 25 yards rushing on 21 carries. The Chargers gained 302 yards to Piper's 90.

Senior fullback Kevin Sharp gained 116 yards on 21 carries. Senior quarterback Shaun Moore picked up 86 yards on 16 carries. He also passed for 53 yards. Brian Mott had an interception.

"It was a rock 'em sock 'em game. A real physical game," Santa Fe Trail coach Bob Von Stein said. "They had a couple big plays. Outside of that, they didn't move the ball. It was pretty much a team effort up front."

Santa Fe Trail improved to 4-0 heading into next Friday's showdown at Perry-Lecompton.

Prairie View 20, Wellsville 14

Wellsville -- Wellsville built a 14-0 first-half lead but couldn't hang on as Prairie View rallied for a 20-14 high school football victory Friday night.

The Eagles scored in the first quarter on a 3-yard run by Aaron Jamison and in the second quarter on a 13-yard run by Justin Montgomery.

Prairie View pulled with 14-12 in the second quarter. Wellsville then reached Prairie View's 2 yard line late in the second quarter, but time ran out.

Jeriah Whitcraft's 2-yard run midway through the third quarter put Prairie View ahead, 20-14.

Montgomery led Wellsville with 109 yards rushing on 26 carries and had nine tackles on defense. Whitcraft gained 141 yards on 19 carries for Prairie View.

Jackson Heights 31, McLouth 22

Holton -- Jackson Heights overcame a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit for a victory over McLouth.

"We didn't look too bad at times," McLouth coach Gerard Aligo said. "The main thing that probably hurt us was 11 penalties for 120 yards -- and the penalties came at crucial times of the game."

McLouth's Aaron Gardner rushed for 125 yards on 24 carries, caught four passes for 70 yards and threw a 78-yard touchdown pass to Shane Duncan.

Chase Coffin hit nine of 15 passes for 147 yards, including a 26-yard touchdown pass to Gardner.

"We were doing some good things," Aligo said, whose team fell to 2-2.

Kansas City -- Travis Brownrigg gained 154 yards on 26 carries, and J.R. Servatius hit eight of 14 passes for 153 yards, and Michael Nation caught six passes for 140 yards in Ottawa's win over Turner.

Joe Steward scored twice on runs of 1 yard and once on a 14-yard run for Ottawa (4-0). On defense, Steward made nine tackles and Josh Sigmund made eight tackles. Ryan Huschka scored from 2 yards out after recoving a fumble.
