Carbondale -- Santa Fe Trail's defense dominated Kansas City Piper in a 14-0 high school victory on Friday at the Chargers' stadium.
Piper, which entered with a 3-0 record, gained 25 yards rushing on 21 carries. The Chargers gained 302 yards to Piper's 90.
Senior fullback Kevin Sharp gained 116 yards on 21 carries. Senior quarterback Shaun Moore picked up 86 yards on 16 carries. He also passed for 53 yards. Brian Mott had an interception.
"It was a rock 'em sock 'em game. A real physical game," Santa Fe Trail coach Bob Von Stein said. "They had a couple big plays. Outside of that, they didn't move the ball. It was pretty much a team effort up front."
Santa Fe Trail improved to 4-0 heading into next Friday's showdown at Perry-Lecompton.
