prepare for book sale
For the 26th year, the annual Friends of the Library's Book Sale will be held the first weekend of October at the Lawrence Public Library, 707 Vt.
Thousands of used books will be sold; all proceeds return to the library to fund additional books, materials, programming and equipment.
A members-only presale, which will include a silent auction of particularly fine books, is scheduled for 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sept. 30. Books that will be auctioned may be seen in the east entrance display cases. Anyone who joins the Friends of the Library on or before Sept. 30 may attend. The sale will be open to the general public from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Oct. 1; from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 2; and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 3. Half-price day will be from noon to 9 p.m. Oct. 4, and "bag night," when shoppers may purchase a bag for $5 to stuff with books, will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Oct. 5.
