WATER MEETINGS

Water quality standards will be a big issue at two public meetings this week in Kansas.

  • State and federal environmental officials are sponsoring two-day environmental conference Wednesday and Thursday in Wichita. "Kansas Environment: Future Directions" will be at the Wichita Marriott Hotel.
  • Also on Thursday, the Lower Republican Basin Advisory Committee will meet in Mankato. That meeting will focus on some of the pollution issues specific to the basin, which includes the Kansas River.
