Robb-Thompson
Jennifer N. Robb and Jason R. Thompson, Lawton, Okla., were married July 31, 1999, at Lawrence Heights Christian Church, with the Rev. Rod Hinkle officiating.
The bride is the daughter of James E. Robb, Lawrence, and Gayle E. Robb, Lawrence. The groom is the son of the late Richard Thompson and Carol Thompson, Elizabeth City, N.C.
Lisa Rooney was maid of honor. Courtney Thompson was flowergirl. Dakota Thompson was ring bearer and best man.
The bride is a graduate of Free State High School. She attended Cameron University, Lawton, Okla., and will attend Tide Water University in Virginia, where she will major in criminal justice.
The groom is a graduate of Ocean Lake High School, Virginia Beach, Va. He is stationed with the U.S. Army in Fort Sill, Okla.
The couple will be moving to Virginia Beach, Va., in October.
Hall-Marquis
Anita Hall and Cary Marquis, Kansas City, Mo., were married May 29, 1999, at the Pilgrim Chapel in Kansas City, Mo. with Roger Coleman officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Stan and Annette Hall, Springfield, Mo. The groom is the son of Dan Marquis, Lawrence, and Janet Marquis, Lawrence.
Shannon Adams was the bride's attendant. Alison Marquis was the groom's attendant. Jason Hall was reader.
A reception was held at the Uptown Theater in Kansas City, Mo.
The bride is a 1987 graduate of Kickapoo High School, Springfield, Mo. She has a bachelor's in recreation therapy from Missouri University, Columbia, Mo. She is employed as a recreational therapist with Kansas University Medical Center.
The groom is a 1987 graduate of Lawrence High School. He has bachelor's in business administration and chemistry from Kansas University. He earned a medical degree at Kansas University Medical School. He is currently employed as a pediatric resident with Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.
The couple live in Kansas City, Mo.
Childs-Disberger
Kimberly Ann Childs, former resident of Lawrence, and David Richard Disberger, DeKalb, Ill., were married June 26, 1999, at Asbury Methodist Church in Wichita with the Rev. Dennis Wallace presiding.
The bride is the daughter of Stan and Joyce Childs, Wichita. The groom is the son of the late Jay Disberger and Vina Paul, Manhattan.
Trisha Bosken was matron of honor. Sherry Graham was maid of honor. Robert Disberger was best man.
Bridesmaids were Colleen Johnson, April Blackman, Heather Parnish, Missy Jabara and Shannon Castillo. Groomsmen were Russell Disberger, Kevin Peterson, Brian Postin, Bryan Childs and Patrick Disberger. Brennah Castillo was flower girl. Joshua Disberger was ring bearer. Shannon Castillo and B.J. Johnson were soloists. Chris Kanelakos, Wes Johnson, Mike Disberger and Dennis Disberger were ushers.
The bride is a graduate of Wichita North High School. She holds a bachelor's in elementary education from Wichita State University and a master's from Kansas University. She is employed as a kindergarten teacher in DeKalb, Ill.
The groom is a graduate of Colby High School. He holds an associate's degree from Colby Community College and a bachelor's in mechanical engineering from Kansas State University, Manhattan. He is employed as a marketing engineer with Caterpillar in DeKalb, Ill. He is also an internet business operator.
The couple live in DeKalb, Ill.
How they met
Family friends actually encouraged the two to get together. David was living and working in Illinois, and Kim was living in Lawrence. After David stopped to see Kim several times on his way from Kansas City International Airport to Wichita, fireworks went off. In fact, they literally exploded in the sky after David proposed in November 1998 at the Country Club Plaza in Kansas City, Mo.
