First Baptist to welcome
Christian performer
Contemporary Christian musician, songwriter and storyteller Kyle Matthews will perform a free concert at 7 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church, 1330 Kasold. Matthews' songs have been recorded by other artists such as Point of Grace, Larnelle Harris, Bob Carlisle and Grover Levy. He has made several recordings of his own including the CDs "This is Not Normal" and "Waking up to the World." The public is welcome.
In services Sunday, the 19th Sunday after Pentecost, the Rev. Marcus McFaul's sermon will be "Building the Church " Through Care and Compassion." Special music will be performed by Matthews during both the 8:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. services. Christian education classes are at 9:30 a.m.
Following the second service the church marks the half-way point in its three-year financial commitment to its construction project. The "Blessed With a Vision" campaign will be observed with a luncheon in the "not-quite completed" multi-purpose room.
Church of Christ
offers Bible classes
Southside Church of Christ, 25th and Missouri streets, offers Bible classes for all ages at 9:30 a.m. every Sunday. Worship service is held at 10:30 a.m.; evening services are held at 6 p.m. Kids for Christ will have its first meeting of the fall from 7 p.m. to 8:20 p.m. Sunday at the church.
Wednesday night Bible study classes for every age group are offered from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Please call 843-0770 for more information.
