FRED AND JENNIFER MOHL, Olathe, announce the birth of a son, Bryce Dillon, on Sept. 17, 1999, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center. Grandparents are Larry and Debbie Dillon and Fred and Mildred Mohl, all of Lawrence. Great-grandparents are Connie and Velma Skinner, Lawrence, and Helen Mohl, Russell.
DIONE AND REX VANATTA, Raymore, Mo., announce the birth of a son, Zane Thomas, on Sept. 12, 1999, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center.
KATHY WAGONER, Oskaloosa, has graduated from Fort Hays State University with a master's degree in English.
LAURA DARNELL, Lawrence, departed Harding University, Searcy, Ark., Sept. 15 for a semester program of travel and education at the Harding University in London. Darnell is a sophomore majoring in English at Harding. She attended Lawrence High School and is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jay Darnell, Lawrence. Another Lawrence student, Katherine Allen, will spend the semester in Athens, Greece. She is a sophomore majoring in psychology at Harding. She attended Lawrence High School and is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rand Allen, Lawrence.
SARAH PAUL, Lawrence, was named to the dean's list for the 1998-99 school year at Carleton College, Northfield, Minn. Paul is the daughter of Lowell Paul and Sheila Reynolds, both of Lawrence. She is a 1998 graduate of Perry-Lecompton High School, Perry.
ANNA KIMBRELL, Lawrence, took part in August in the Freshman Service Experience (FSE) at American University, Washington, D.C. Through this program, Kimbrell helped contribute more than 10,000 hours of service to the Washington, D.C., community before starting classes this fall at American University. The FSE program's goals are to build community volunteerism, immerse students quickly into American University and Washington, D.C., and help students make friends before classes begin.
AMANDA CLARK AND REID BORK, Austin, Tex., announce the birth of a son, Eli James Brk, on Aug. 28, 1999, in Austin, Tex. Grandparents are Gary and Jeanne Clark, and John Brk and Jean Shepherd, all of Lawrence.
KRIS HART, Baldwin, was among Fort Hays State University students who assisted with this month's Kansas Scholastic Press Assn. fall conference. The conference brought about 375 high school and middle school students to Fort Hays State University.
THE LAWRENCE ACCREDITED MUSIC TEACHERS ASSN. is sponsoring two recitals Thursday night at the Lawrence Arts Center, 200 W. Ninth. Performing at the 7 p.m. recital will be: Alexei Krainev, Steven Peng, Debbie Yang, Margaret Barnes, Michael Peng, Sarah Elbayoumy, Clare Hove, Abigail Adams, Emily Nightengale, Colleen Boley, Dan Stahl and Flor Jiang. They represent the studios of Pat Burgstahler, Carol Cook and Ernest Valentia.
Performing at the 7:40 p.m. recital will be Nicole Humphrey, Rachel Bellah, Margaret Bireta, Nolan Frank, Jason Chang, Kristin Capps, Katie Gill, Kyle Gibson, Julia Barnard, Bryant Humphrey, Sarah Zimmerman and Kelly Gibson. These students represent the studios of Jean Drumm, Sue Evans and Sylvia Frank.
