Travis Brownrigg

Positions: RB/SS.

A third of the way through the season, Brownrigg has rushed for more than 500 yards after breaking loose for 152 yards on 24 carries in a 27-7 victory over Bonner Springs. He also had a reception on a screen pass that resulted in a 56-yard touchdown play.

"Travis is really getting off to good start," OHS coach Pat Boeh said. "He seems to be focused. He's running as hard as I've ever seen. He's going to get better and better."

Other candidates:

  • Santa Fe Trail's Justin Ramsdell (12 carries, 140 yards and a touchdown) and Daniel Prost (four carries for 125 yards and two TDs) helped the Chargers to a 48-6 victory over Basehor-Linwood.
  • McLouth's Matt Kesinger (14 carries, 135 yards, one TD) and Chase Coffin (9 of 12 passing for 161 yards and two TDs) boosted the Bulldogs to a 43-0 romp of Highland. Bulldog Aaron Gardner intercepted two passes.
  • Baldwin quarterback Heath Knight threw three TD passes, including two to Ben Cosman in the Bulldogs' 27-6 victory over Wellsville.
  • Perry-Lecompton's Joe Corcoran 175 yards on 18 carries. He had two rushing TDs, threw a 29-yard TD pass and kicked a 32-yard field goal in the Kaws' 34-23 loss to Kansas City Piper.
  • Ottawa's Joe Steward had nine carries for 101 yards against Bonner Springs. He also had 15 tackles.
  • Oskaloosa's Brock Best (12 carries for 145 yards and two TDs) and Ben Wheeler (14 carries, 125 yards for 3 TDs) boosted the Bears to a 42-16 decision over Wathena.
