Kingsley places 22nd

Wagoner, Okla. -- Cecil Kingsley of Lawrence placed 22nd after the second round of the Wal-Mart FLW Tour Bass Fishing World championship. He earned $1,200.

KU golfers 18th

Las Cruces, N.M. -- Kansas University's golf team placed 18th after the first round of the McGuire Invitational at the University of New Mexico course. KU's Sue Tessary and Sarah Mahoney shot 5-over-par 78s to place 43rd. Results in scoreboard.

Kansas duo wins

Baltimore -- Kansas' Ed Dus and Rodrigo Echagaray beat Borut Martincevic and Ryan Shupe of Texas Tech 6-4, 6-1, Thursday in first round of doubles at the Price Clay Court championships.

Seabury rolls, 7-0

Seabury Academy defeated Hyman Brand, 7-0, in junior high soccer on Thursday. Jake Schneider had three goals, while Alex Sullivan, John Parker, Keith Stack and Caleb Powers had a goal apiece. Stack had six assists and Kris Finger had the shutout for Seabury, 1-1.

Two Lawrence teams

place eighth in golf

Two Lawrence teams tied for eighth at the KGA Senior Team championships Friday at Alvamar.

Bobby Williams and Dan Grover shot two-round totals of 142 as did Gary Olson and Terry Mikan. Bob Vidricksen of Salina and Ron Brewer of Leawood won witih 134. Lawrence's Jerry Waugh and Harold Odgen tied for 25th at 146. Lawrence's Ken Gentry teamed with Overland Park's Jack Blake to tie for 25th.

Doug Shade and Jon Beougher tied for 31st at 147. Harley Catlin and John Immel tied for 45th (153); George Bocquin and Dick Logan 45th (153). Oskaloosa's Chris Luck and Topeka's Roger Seward tied for 52nd at 154.

Lions win 2-0

Lawrence High's JV soccer team defeated Free State, 2-0, on Thursday at YSI. Jamie Peterson and Florian Schnabel scored goals. Schnabel had an assist. Also a double assist was recorded by Michael Weil and Peterson. Derek Scott had the shutout. The sweeper was Roland deBoer LHS is 3-3-1.
