South defeated SM North, 34-20, in ninth grde junior high football on Thursday in Overland Park.
Brandon McAnderson scored on runs of 25, five, three and one yards.
Derrick Newman caught a 30-yard touchdown pass and two-point conversion pass from Brandon Womack. Newman also caught a two-point pass from Dominick Harrell.
McAnderson and Simon Barnes had interceptions. Twynnin Brown had a fumble recovery. Jason Russell and Sean Carriger had several tackles. Eric Allen and Wes Cook had strong games on the offensive line.
South, 3-1, will meet Topeka West at 3:45 p.m. next Thursday at South.
Topeka High 12, Central 0
At Central, Topeka High claimed a 12-0 decision off a pair of touchdown passes.
Bijia Jones had two interceptions and Dustin Ward a fumble recovery. for Central.
Central, 0-4, will meet Shawnee Heights at 3:50 p.m. Thursday at Central.
SM South 20, Southwest 6
At Southwest, David Allen scored on a 75-yard run for Southwest's only scoring in a 20-6 loss to Shawnee Mission South.
Lineman Robert Weinaug and linebackers Brian Seymour and Allen were cited for their defensive play.
Southwest (1-3) will entertain Olathe Santa Fe Trail next Thursday.
