Burglaries and thefts reported
- A 1993 Pontiac Sunbird was reportedly stolen from East 23rd Street Autos, 1231 E. 23rd, between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday.
- Police are investigating a Kwik Shop employee for alleged thefts totaling $1,020. According to reports, two money orders totaling $770 were written at the store, 1714 W. 23rd, between 11 a.m. and 12:42 p.m. Friday. The register was also short $250, according to the report. Sgt. George Wheeler said police haven't interviewed the suspect yet.
Police reports
- Lawrence police arrested a 41-year-old Lawrence man on Thursday for possession of crack cocaine and possession of marijuana. The man was booked into the Douglas County Jail at 7:51 p.m. Thursday and was being held on $1,500 bond on Thursday night.
- Members of the Tri-County Drug Enforcement Unit arrested a 19-year-old man Wednesday night at 1900 W. 31st. Douglas County Undersheriff Kenny Massey said undercover officers bought marijuana from the man that night. Agents served a search warrant on his mobile home and seized about 50 grams (about two ounces) of marijuana and about $500 in cash, Massey said. He was released from the Douglas County Jail after posting a $10,000 bond Wednesday night. He was arrested on charges of sale of marijuana, no tax stamp, possession of marijuana and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. He's scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 13.
