Sixty-eight bands from Kansas and Missouri are expected to attend the 52nd annual Band Day on Saturday at Kansas University.

More than 5,000 musicians are expected to participate.

For the second straight year, with an evening football game, the Band Day Parade will begin at 1 p.m. in downtown Lawrence. The parade route begins at Seventh and Massachusetts streets and continues to South Park at 11th and Massachusetts streets.

The KU Marching Jayhawks will lead the parade, followed by bands from the two Lawrence high schools.

Following the parade, bands will move to Memorial Stadium to rehearse for the halftime show. During halftime, the massed bands take to the field to play "I'm A Jayhawk," arranged by James Barnes, professor of music theory and composition at KU; "Brasses to the Fore" by Harold Walters; "Barbara Ann" by Mike Story; "Hey! Baby!" by Tom Wallace; and "Patriotic Finale" by Robert E. Foster, KU director of bands.

Twirlers, flag units, rifle corps and other auxiliary units will perform on the track around Memorial Stadium.
