A public meeting will be held next week to talk about sewer improvements in the Western Hills neighborhood.
The city of Lawrence is making plans to extend sewer service to the neighborhood. The Lawrence City Commission has approved the project, and the city will share in the cost, but property owners will be assessed a maximum of $7,500 for their share of the costs.
The neighborhood lies between Harvard and 15th Street and between Monterey Way and Wagon Wheel Road.
The meeting is scheduled for 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday in the city commission room of city hall, Sixth and Massachusetts.
There will be no formal presentation at the meeting. The city's consultant, Evans Bierly Hutchinson and Associates, will be available to discuss the improvements and answer questions. Residents are invited to come anytime between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to talk with the consultants.
City officials have extended the meeting by one hour. A recent letter to residents indicated the meeting would end at 6 p.m.
