Police are looking for a Lawrence man who missed a meeting with a probation officer, and anyone who can help find him might earn $100.

Police think Michael J. Yellowbird, 20, is in the Lawrence area, said David Anderson, the Lawrence Police officer in charge of Crime Stoppers. Yellowbird pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit aggravated burglary on April 1, 1997. He was one of six people arrested after breaking into a house in February 1997 in the 2700 block of Rawhide, and chasing an 18-year-old man from the home.

Yellowbird received probation following the incident. Anderson said Yellowbird met his probation officer on Aug. 24 of this year, but missed a meeting two days later and hasn't reported since.

Each month, Crime Stoppers board members approve $100 rewards for two Douglas County fugitives wanted on warrants. Yellowbird and Glee A. Lamont are featured this month.

Lamont, 34, Lawrence, is wanted for alleged forgeries. Anderson said Lamont allegedly passed four stolen and forged checks on June 3 in Douglas County. He didn't name the businesses or the amounts of the checks.

Police are asking anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of Lamont or Yellowbird to call Crime Stoppers at 843-TIPS (843-8477). Callers remain anonymous and are eligible for a $100 reward.
