Lawrence police on Wednesday night were investigating two apparently unrelated robberies.
In the first incident about 8:30 p.m., a man walked into the video department in Dillons, 1720 Mass., allegedly went behind the counter and grabbed a clerk, while taking money from a register.
The man then left the store on foot, running south.
He was described as a male, about 6-feet tall with a heavy build and a gray or purple sweatshirt.
The clerk was not seriously injured, and no weapon was displayed, police said.
In the second incident about 9:50 p.m., a man walked into the Days Inn, 2309 Iowa, and allegedly demanded cash while reportedly carrying a handgun.
He left with an undisclosed amount of money in an unknown direction, police said.
The suspect in the second robbery was described as a male about 5-foot-6 and 160 pounds, wearing a navy wind breaker and a navy "sailor-type" cap.
There were no injuries in that robbery.
Anyone with information about either incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers of Douglas County at 843-TIPS (8477).
